About Darlene

Growing up, Darlene always wanted to become a teacher. During summer vacation, she spent many days on the porch pretending to read and instruct a class of children. Her interests turned to accounting and she continued down that path as an occupation, practising successfully for many years.

Eventually, she got married and had a beautiful, precious daughter, Tonia. At the age of 41, Darelene succumbed to a debilitating illness and her days of crunching numbers came to a crashing halt. It was during this time of weakness and total dependence on God that she was gently led by the Holy Spirit to sit and to write. Rather surprised at the words that came so quickly and easily, Darlene knew she had found her true calling: teaching children the love of the Lord.

Despite never having written anything but letters, essays at school, or memos at work, she quickly finished her first book. Not knowing what to do with it, it sat in a folder for sixteen years! Life changed again, and Darlene found herself in a quiet time where the Holy Spirit once more led her back to the folder of pages written so long ago and her publishing journey began.

Children had always been a constant passion. Darlene taught Sunday School, was a Bible Camp kitchen helper and Camp counsellor. Her most treasured occupation was that of a Financial Controller for a School Division, making sure that monies were there to provide the best education for the children in various districts. She considered this a great privilege, and that is where the journey of her first book began, as an unwelcomed illness overtook her. Darlene has endured many difficult challenges, but her hope is firm in God's good plans for each of us. She believes there are great things in store for you and for her. She knows this promise to be true: that in our weakness, God Is Strong.

Darlene currently lives in Dauphin, Manitoba (hoping to return back to the Okanagan Valley) with her Boston Terrier, Daisy, who is a beacon of light for everyone who meets her.
